With all the crazy security issues and government snooping going on lately, I’ve been seriously considering changing my email provider. I just heard of mykolab.com, a Swiss company that is not under the thumb of any foreign government. The Swiss also have some intriguing laws on the books. If you find out something illegal, like wiretapping without a warrant is going on, if you don’t report it you go to jail. If you authorized it, you go to jail for a long time. I wonder how hard it is to move to Switzerland?
They are a little pricey, but they talk about that on the site under the FAQ. I also like the group tools they use and that they are open source, very similar to wordpress. If you want, you can set up your own kolab server using their source. I’m going to do a little more digging. Then, if I like what I see, I’ll just need to convince Amy 😉
