Pineapple Classic

The Pineapple Classic was an amazing 5k race! But with obstacles!  Amy set up a four person team with Mike and Stephanie Attebery rounding out our team.

Getting ready to head to the start line.

Here we are after a quick trip back to the car to drop off our SWAG (Stuff We All Get) bags. That’s Mount Si in the background. The event was at North Bend this year, as it had out grown its old location in Seattle at Magnuson Park. Not only did this make the drive easier for us, but there was tons of parking.

Scooby and Scrappy Doo do the slip and slide!

When we walked over to the starting line, we passed the last obstacle on the course, a giant slip and slide. Due to the nature of the course, there are starting times every 15 minutes. We started at 9:45, so there were already people finishing as we walked by. We got to see two people dressed up as Scooby and Scrappy Doo slide on the slip and slide 🙂

Some people slid farther than others.

We had a bit of time, so we stopped and watched a few more people sliding through.

The Team is all together at the start.

Here’s the team at near the start line, still clean and rested.

Amy after the race with her prize pineapple.

And here’s Amy after, still looking fairly clean due to the slip and slide getting a bunch of mud washed off her front.

Our pants and shoes got the worst of the mud.

The pants and shoes didn’t fare so well. It’ll be some time before those shoes are shiny again.

We finished the 5k in about 45 minutes. Not bad considering the obstacles. These included 3 walls of about 4 feet, 8 feet, and 12 feet high we had to help each other climb over, hurdles, a hanging rope net to climb over, tubes to crawl through, and tires to walk over. And it was muddy! But at least it didn’t rain on us.

I’m really looking forward to doing this again next year 🙂
